Greywold is an old-school fantasy wilderness and dungeon campaign played using Troll Lord Games’ Castles & Crusades roleplaying game. Set in the homebrew World of Mykenia the campaign will play out in bi-weekly sessions starting in June 2018 and running through at least 12 sessions to finish in late December.
Characters will begin at 1st-level and players can expect them to develop towards 3rd-level by the end of the campaign. Greywold will use the core rules from Castles & Crusades with limited modifications, additions from other sources, and custom game elements such as monsters and items designed specifically for the campaign.
Players will create their characters by choosing from between the fourteen classes and seven races found in the core rulebook. It is recommended that the majority of players strongly consider playing human characters and focus on the core classes of cleric, fighter, thief, and wizard.
This event will be a character creation session via the Extraordinary Gamers’ Teamspeak server, using Fantasy Grounds. The GM has an Ultimate License for Fantasy Grounds, so no player needs to own their own license and can simply join with a free version of the software. Fantasy Grounds will provide access to full details on character creation, so that there is no requirement for any player to purchase the game book for themselves. Indeed, given the elements of mystery and fantasy involved, players might prefer to avoid reading too much of the core books.
Before and during the character creation process, players are encouraged to discuss their choices with each other to ensure a party makeup everyone is comfortable with. After characters have been generated, they will be reviewed, and their backstory details will be finalised through discussion with the GM.
